High School Golf Coach in Beaufort Charged with Child Sex Exploitation

In a stunning development out of Beaufort County, South Carolina, a high school golf coach has been arrested on multiple charges related to child sex exploitation. James Corbin, aged 52, a Beaufort High School girls’ golf coach, is currently facing five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigation Details

The Sheriff’s Office of Beaufort County, launched the investigation on January 26, 2024, when they received a critical tip-off from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. The lead indicated that images of minors engaged in sexual acts, or appearing in sexually explicit nudity, were distributed from an address located within Beaufort County.

Based on the lead, the investigators successfully acquired the necessary probable cause to search Corbin’s home. Under the power of a search warrant, they conducted the search on March 6, 2024, for any evidence pointing towards the sexual exploitation of a minor. Following the search, the authorities obtained arrest warrants for Corbin on March 12, 2024, leading to his surrender to law enforcement earlier Wednesday afternoon.
