Beaufort County’s Two Day Long Nightmare: Four Injured in Two Separate Shootings, Two Homes Damaged

Incidents of gun violence shook the Beaufort County as two separate shooting incidents occurred, leaving four people injured and two homes damaged within just two days.

The Burton Incident

The first incident came to light on Tuesday when a shooting occurred in Burton around 9:20 in the evening. Reports came flooding in about gunshots in the region of County Shed and Jennings Roads, as well as multiple gunshot victims being admitted to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The investigation led to the revelation that an unidentified vehicle had shot at another vehicle multiple times, injuring four of its occupants. The shower of bullets didn’t stop there; a residential property was also caught in the line of fire, causing notable damage but thankfully sparing the lives of its occupants.

Shooting on Saint Helena Island

The second incident came merely a few hours after the first. Around 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, a home on No Man Land Road on Saint Helena Island was wildly sprayed with bullets. The residence was hit multiple times, but unlike the Burton incident, no human casualties took place. The people within the house escaped unharmed, while the property suffered extensively from the gunfire.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has taken up the task of investigating both incidents. So far, the connection between the two instances of gunfire, if any exist, remains undetermined.
