Beaufort County School District announces new principals for school year

Attention has turned towards the educational sector, as the Beaufort County School District recently made public the names of the new principals set to take on leadership roles for the forthcoming school year. These experienced and esteemed veterans in the sphere of education will step up their responsibilities in four pivotal schools within Beaufort county.

Entrustment of New Roles

These newly appointed principals are all internal candidates, and the kick-off date for their roles commences on the 7th of August. Speaking on the appointments, Superintendent Frank Rodriguez expressed his excitement, noting the importance of their new roles in building a collaborative learning ethos centered on improved academic achievement and the success of their students.

Meet the New Principals

Jamie Allen – Broad River Elementary School

Jamie Allen moves from her previous role as principal of Whale Branch Middle School to take the helm at Broad River Elementary School. She takes over from the outgoing principal, Constance Goodwine-Lewis. With an impressive 18-year service within the Beaufort County School District, Allen is expected to bring notable drive to her new position.

Brantley Wilson – Whale Branch Middle School

Replacing Jamie Allen as the principal of Whale Branch Middle School is Brantley Wilson, a seasoned educator with a diversified portfolio in education, ranging from student services assistance to department chair roles.

Sonji Leach – Whale Branch Early College High School

Whale Branch Early College High School has a new leader in Sonji Leach, who most recently worked as assistant principal at Beaufort High School. Leach has numerous years of experience in administrative positions, serving various roles within the education sector. She takes over from Davina Coleman.

Keith Stewart – Bluffton Middle School

Keith Stewart, who steps into the role of Principal at Bluffton Middle School, takes over from outgoing principal Matt Hall. Stewart, a former physical education teacher, has held various roles, including an assistant principal role at May River High School.

Appointment Process

The appointment process involved several stages, including interviews conducted by committees made up of teacher leaders, principals, School Improvement Council members, among others. After the initial phase, the pool of candidates was narrowed down, and final selections were made by Superintendent Rodriguez, with recommendations submitted to the Board of Education.
