On Tuesday, September 3, the residents of Hilton Head, Beaufort County, will notice activity on the roads. This day indicates the beginning of an extensive road repair and paving operation, aimed at enhancing Hilton Head’s overall road infrastructure.
The Annual Roadway Resurfacing Program
The repairs are part of Beaufort County’s annual roadway resurfacing program, an initiative financed by the County Transportation Committee. The operation involves road patching and paving, tasks that require a clear roadway for effective execution. Hence, locals have been requested to prevent parking their vehicles on the street during the operation hours, which are set from 7 a.m to 7 p.m daily.
Progress and Projected Roadblocks
The project’s commencement on September 3 does not suggest its completion. Resident should expect approximately two weeks of inconvenience on the roads. However, any changes in weather or field conditions might lead to an advanced end or delay to the project. A significant characteristic of this operation will be the presence of flaggers in every work zone. As a result, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution and adhere to these flaggers for a safer and smoother traffic experience.
Impacted Roads
The road repair initiative starts set to cause minor disruptions to several streets in Hilton Head. The roads impacted include:
Temporary Closures
Streets that are one way may be temporarily closed during the paving process. The construction team will place warning signs, equipment, and personnel in these areas to guide the motorists and ensure safety.
County Support during the project
The Beaufort County Engineering Department is available for consultation and to answer any queries related to the road project. They can be reached at 843-255-2700 during the project tenure.
