“People are planning,” she added, obviously impressed. “Some folks came prepared, and I think that’s a good sign.” Those who took the time to show up early did not appear phased by the wait; early voter Judy Mathews commented, “It was a lot of folks, it really was, but we held up our two legs and we made it.”

As of Monday, Beaufort County recorded a staggering 4,735 early votes, which accounts for more than 3% of the registered voters in the area.
