In Beaufort County, South Carolina, deputies have temporarily called off the search for two men who fled the scene of a traffic stop on Sunday evening. The search began when officers attempted to stop a car on Main Street, Hilton Head Island, due to a reported traffic violation.
Following the attempted stop, a brief pursuit began which ended with both the driver and the passenger abandoning their vehicle and escaping into the adjacent woods on Bus Drive, near the school complex. The two men, who were both clothed entirely in black, eluded the pursuing officers.
The search operation continued throughout the Sunday evening with the authorities scouring the area for any sign of the fleeing individuals. However, the search was suspended shortly before 9 p.m. with the suspects yet to be located.
Officers from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office have released a description of the suspects. Both men were reported to be dressed in black outfits, with the driver wearing a black hooded sweatshirt specifically.
