Exciting news for the folks in Beaufort! The county has just announced that _Pinky Harriott_ will step into the role of Chief Financial Officer, starting on Monday, November 25, 2024. It’s a big appointment, and residents can expect great things with Harriott at the financial helm.
For many residents, Harriott is no stranger! Born and raised in Beaufort, she calls St. Helena Island home. After graduating from Beaufort High School, she pursued a _Bachelor of Science in Business Administration_ focusing on Finance and Management. Her qualifications are lights-out impressive; she’s also a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO). With over 14 years under her belt, she has experience working in governmental accounting and finance across various state and local agencies.
Currently, Harriott is serving as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Finance and Human Resources at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. In this role, she’s been responsible for overseeing the annual budget and ensuring all fiscal policies are followed with the utmost diligence.
But that’s not all! Harriott has a rich history with Beaufort County itself. As the former Budget Director, she made waves by implementing the county’s very first _Digital Budget Book_, a move that gained the county the inaugural _GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award_. Talk about a financial innovator!
Beyond her professional achievements, Harriott is known for her dedication to community service. She’s a lifelong member of _Rotary International_, and right now, she’s the President of the Lowcountry Rotary Club, where she works on giving back to the community. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Volvo Community Advisory Board. It’s clear that Harriott’s commitment isn’t just about the dollars and cents; she’s invested in the community’s well-being too!
On the home front, Harriott is happily married to her husband, _Bradley_, and together they have three children: _Kalob, Gracie,_ and _John_. It sounds like their household is bustling with activity and joy!
Harriott is enthusiastic about this new journey. In a statement, she expressed her anticipation for the role, saying, “I look forward to embarking on this exciting new journey. I am confident that my experience will continue to contribute to the mission of Beaufort County and expand our services to meet the needs of our residents, while ensuring compliance and fiscal transparency.”
She also mentioned her eagerness to collaborate with Beaufort County Administrator _Michael Moore_, praising his fresh perspective and vision for the county’s future.
