Hey there, Beaufort! We’ve got some fantastic news buzzing around the town that’s sure to bring a smile to your face. The Beaufort County government has just announced a brand new Chief Financial Officer, and she’s a familiar face indeed! Pinky Harriott has been appointed to take up this important role, effective November 25, 2024, and everyone is thrilled to welcome her aboard.
If you don’t already know her, let’s introduce you to Pinky Harriott. Growing up on the beautiful St. Helena Island, she’s a true Beaufort native who walked the halls of Beaufort High School. After graduating, she earned her B.S. in Business Administration with a focus on finance and management, proving she’s more than ready for this responsibility. With over 14 years of experience in governmental accounting and finance—covering both state and local agencies—she’s got a treasure trove of knowledge to draw from!
Before stepping into her new role, Harriott has been doing impressive work at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, where she’s served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Finance and Human Resources. In that capacity, she managed annual budgets and made sure everything was in tip-top shape with fiscal policies. Harriott’s knack for details has led her to streamline processes, making life easier for everyone involved. She’s spearheaded initiatives like the county’s first Digital Budget Book and earned the first-ever GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Talk about setting the bar high!
Pinky isn’t all about numbers, though. She’s a devoted community member who believes in giving back. As President of the Lowcountry Rotary Club and a member of the Beaufort Regional Chamber Board of Directors, she is always looking for ways to make Beaufort a better place. Not to mention, she’s also active on the Volvo Community Advisory Board. This woman has her hands full, but she wouldn’t have it any other way!
Pinky is married to Bradley, and together they are raising three wonderful kids: Kalob, Gracie, and John. Balancing family and career is no easy task, but from the looks of it, she’s nailing it! Her family-oriented approach likely fuels her passion for serving the residents of Beaufort County.
Michael Moore, the Beaufort County Administrator, couldn’t be more enthusiastic about Harriott joining the team. He said, “We are eager to welcome Mrs. Harriott as our next CFO. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, along with an impressive record of community service.” With support like this from the leadership, it’s clear that the county is gearing up for some exciting developments.
Harriott herself is equally excited. She mentioned, “I look forward to embarking on this exciting new journey. I am confident that my experience will continue to contribute to the mission of Beaufort County and expand our services to meet the needs of our residents.” Her focus on compliance and fiscal transparency means that residents can look forward to an open-book approach in how the county handles its finances.
So, Beaufort, there you have it! A new chapter is about to begin with Pinky Harriott at the financial helm. Exciting times lie ahead for the county, and we can’t wait to see how her leadership will help shape the future of our lovely community.
