Candidates for Local Office in Beaufort County Announced
The journey for the hopefuls in the Beaufort County electoral race has begun with their names on the ballot this coming November. A diverse selection of candidates, both first-timers and incumbents, are aiming for various local office positions in Beaufort City Council, Beaufort County Council, Beaufort County Board of Education, and for the Beaufort Mayoral seat.
List of Local Candidates
Clerk of Court
In the race for Clerk of Court, the Republican Party candidate is Jerri Roseneau.
Coroner
Incumbent Deborah Ann Youmans from the Republican party is still in the running for the Coroner’s office.
County Council, District 1
For the District 1 County Council seat, the contenders include Jevona M Armstrong from the Forward Party, Adam Biery from the Republican Party, and the Democratic candidate is the incumbent Gerald Dawson.
District 3 and 7 County Council Seats
For District 3, the democratic nominee is York Glover. In District 7, the competition is between Logan S Cunningham from the Republican party and Democrat Sarah McCarty.
Soil and Water District Commission
For the Soil and Water District Commission, the nonpartisan candidate is Denise M Parsick.
Board of Education Seats
District 1, 6, 9 and 11
The Board of Education seats are being fiercely competed for, with nonpartisan candidates Isaac Gordon and Trad C Williams vying for District 1. District 6 will see Alphonso Small Jr., while Leal K Frazier and Ingrid Boatright are running for Districts 9 and 11 respectively.
Mayoral Race
The Mayoral seat of the City of Beaufort has two nonpartisan candidates, incumbent Phil Cromer and Josh Scallate.
Beaufort City Council Seats
For the Beaufort City Council Seats, the nonpartisan candidates include Julie Crenshaw, Josh Gibson, Neil B Lipsitz, and Mitch Mitchell.
This year, the Election Day, marked for Nov. 5, 2024, promises to be an eventful one. It will not only address local governance but also statewide Senate, Representative positions, and seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Furthermore, as it falls in the presidential election year, the ballots in Beaufort County will also sport names of the prospective presidential candidates.
The coming months present an important opportunity for the candidates to connect with the Beaufort County residents, understand their issues and concerns, and effectually communicate their agendas and plans to address them.
