Beaufort, South Carolina residents are about to receive a unique opportunity for breastfeeding mothers. Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH) has announced a forthcoming free breastfeeding support group aimed to provide a nurturing and learning environment for local mothers.
The group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the hospital’s LifeFit Wellness Center, located at 990 Ribaut Road, Beaufort. Designed to accommodate the schedules of busy moms, the first meeting is scheduled for April 18, 2024.
Anna Burns, a Certified Lactation Counselor (CBC), and occupational therapist (OT) will lead the group. With her professional experience and understanding, Burns is ideally equipped to guide breastfeeding moms through the complexities and challenges of breastfeeding, while also facilitating a balanced motherhood.
Participants can expect to learn effective breastfeeding techniques in a supportive, group setting. The support group offers a platform to discuss and share experiences, whether it be tales of success or hurdles overcome. Furthermore, being able to hear other mother’s stories and solutions could be beneficial to any mother.
Due to the personal nature of this group, attendance is limited exclusively to breastfeeding mothers and their babies. This arrangement cultivates a comfortable and safe space for sharing and learning. Mothers interested in participating are requested to register at BeaufortMemorial.org/BabyU.
For questions or additional breastfeeding support, individuals can reach out to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital by calling 843-522-5900. As the initiative is free, it creates a cost-effective way for mothers to gain additional support and learn from experienced professionals.
