Beaufort Gears Up for Exciting Blue Angels Airshow in April

Beaufort Excited for Upcoming Blue Angels Airshow

Beaufort, SC – The air over MCAS Beaufort was buzzing with excitement on the morning of December 6, when the iconic blue and gold Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet of the Blue Angels touched down promptly at 8:55 a.m. Local families, military personnel, and aviation enthusiasts gathered to welcome the visiting pilots, U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Scott Laux, Blue Angel No. 7, and U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Lilly Montana, Blue Angel No. 8.

Fast and Furious Arrival

The duo made their speedy journey from Punta Gorda, Florida, flying at a staggering .95 MACH, or 658 mph! Laux playfully remarked, “We went about as fast as we could and it still took about an hour.” These high-speed arrivals are all part of an exciting agenda, as Laux and Montana will stop at each of the 32 air show sites in preparation for the start of the 2025 season.

A Mission to Inspire

During their visit, the Blue Angels shared a powerful mission: to show the teamwork and professionalism of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, while inspiring the next generation. “We hope that we inspire young people to be interested in aviation, in service to their country, and just to be excellent in everything that they do,” Laux explained.

Montana echoed that sentiment, emphasizing their commitment not just to young folks but to everyone: “We aim to motivate adults, too,” she added with a smile.

Passionate About Their Role

After meeting with local leaders and air show organizers, Montana and Laux expressed how much they enjoy traveling across the country. “We meet so many incredible people that are excited about what we do and the way it reflects on our military,” Laux said, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. “It’s a very high-energy crowd, and that’s something I thrive on and enjoy.”

Montana chimed in, sharing her love for the travel and the team spirit that encompasses the Blue Angels. “We’re 140 sailors and Marines along with a dedicated civilian support staff,” she said. “Everyone has gone through a rigorous application process, and they’re all at the top of their game. The teamwork here is phenomenal!”

Looking Ahead

The upcoming air show, set for April 12 and 13, promises to deliver a thrilling aerial spectacle. With the Blue Angels headlining the event, families will have a fantastic opportunity to witness breathtaking maneuvers and extraordinary flying skills up close.

As the weekend approaches, excitement in Beaufort is palpable. Locals can hardly wait to enjoy the roaring engines, steep climbs, and heart-stopping dives that the Blue Angels are famous for. It’s not just about the planes; it’s a celebration of teamwork, bravery, and the spirit of aviation.

As Laux and Montana prepare to depart from MCAS Beaufort, their brief but impactful visit has left community members buzzing with anticipation. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, a military supporter, or simply someone looking for a fun day out with the family, this air show will be something to remember!

So mark your calendars, gather your loved ones, and get ready for a weekend filled with thrills and inspiration, brought to you by these incredible pilots and their remarkable team!
