Sponsor Our ArticlesGet ready, seafood lovers and festival enthusiasts! This weekend, Hilton Head Island is gearing up for one of its biggest bashes of the year – the Annual Oyster Festival! For over 30 years, this event has attracted both locals and tourists who can’t resist the charm of the Lowcountry’s favorite mollusk. Whether you’re an oyster aficionado or just in it for the fun, there’s something for everyone at this two-day event!
The festivities kick off on Friday night with an all-you-can-eat feast that will have your taste buds dancing! Join your friends and family at Shelter Cove Community Park from 5 to 8 p.m. and dive into a seafood smorgasbord. From steamed local oysters to succulent shrimp, and from lowcountry boil to pulled pork, there’s no shortage of deliciousness to enjoy. If you’re in the mood for something warm and comforting, there’s also seafood chowder and chili on the menu, all provided by Roy’s Place Catering.
Now, let’s talk tickets! Admission for Friday is priced at $65, but it’s just $45 for kiddos 12 and under. So, grab the whole family (yes, even the picky eaters!) and let’s dig in!
After the feast, Saturday brings an exciting transition to a full-blown music and art festival at Lowcountry Celebration Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For just $10 for adults (and it’s free for children 11 and under!), festival-goers can soak up the atmosphere filled with lively sounds and local craftsmanship.
On the entertainment front, get ready to rock out to some amazing bands like CornBred and The Nice Guys. Their tunes are sure to keep the energy up as you enjoy the festivities. But that’s not all! You’ll also find a variety of pop-up shops featuring local artisans—think handmade goodies from Clay on the May and Drew’s Soaps. And for those looking to grab a bite, you won’t be disappointed, with a smorgasbord of food vendors lining the park.
If you’ve got little ones in tow, the Kid’s Zone is a must-visit. It’s packed with fun activities to keep the young ones entertained while you indulge in some much-needed adult time. Sounds like a win-win to us!
As the sun sets, the fun doesn’t have to end just yet! Pop over to the Courtyard Marriott’s rooftop bar across the street for an after-party that will keep the good vibes going. So, whether you’re a festival veteran or this is your first Oyster Festival, be sure to hang around for some fun in the sky!
One cool thing to keep in mind is that this festival is about more than just enjoying oysters and good music. Proceeds from the event benefit the Carmines Family Recreation Scholarship Fund at the Hilton Head Island Recreation Center, helping to ensure that everyone can experience the joy of recreation in our lovely community.
Oh, and did you know? Last year, the festival successfully recycled a whopping 5 tons of oyster shells? Talk about making waves in sustainability!
So, are you ready to shuck and slurp at the Annual Oyster Festival? Whether you’re drooling over the menu or planning your Saturday schedule, make sure to mark your calendars and grab those tickets. It’s a weekend you won’t want to miss!
