Weekend Weather Forecast

Weather Update for Savannah, Georgia: What to Expect This Weekend

Hey Savannah! As we roll into the weekend, let’s chat about what the weather has in store for us. On Friday morning, you might want to grab that umbrella as scattered showers will be making their appearance along the coast. Don’t worry though! By lunchtime, the showers should taper off, and temperatures will rise to a pleasant lower 80s. That’s right, it’ll feel comfortably warm, so if you have any outdoor plans in the afternoon, you’re in luck!

Evening Plans? No Problem!

As we transition into the evening, temperatures are expected to drop back into the 70s after sunset, making for a lovely evening out. Just keep in mind that a few showers might still linger, especially to the south of Savannah and along the coast. But nothing that should ruin your fun!

What’s Happening This Weekend?

Looking at Saturday, we’ll kick the day off near that cozy 70-degree mark, with highs only reaching the lower 80s. There’s a weak front moving in, which means we might see a slight chance for a few more showers from Saturday into Sunday. So, while you might want to plan your day outdoors, have a backup plan just in case those showers decide to show up!

By Sunday, expect similar temperatures with highs again close to that 80-degree mark. Isolated showers could be on the horizon as they slowly move onshore, but let’s keep our fingers crossed for clear skies!

River Levels and Their Effects

Now, let’s talk about the rivers. Currently, river levels are on the higher side, so if you were planning some wet and wild fun, you’ll want to be cautious. The Ohoopee River near Reidsville is currently in Moderate Flood Stage and is anticipated to drop as the weekend progresses. Meanwhile, the Ogeechee River at Eden is expected to rise into Minor Flood Stage Saturday afternoon, hitting Moderate Flood Stage on Sunday morning. It’s projected to crest at Major Flood Stage from Sunday into Tuesday, with water levels also rising near Ellabell and Richmond Hill. So, remain safe if you’re near those areas!

Upcoming Weather Changes

But let’s keep the vibe positive! A big sigh of relief is coming next week as fall-like weather finally makes its debut! Monday will start off in the upper 60s and climb to a comfortable mid-80s high. And oh, wait for it… Another front is moving in midweek, bringing in a delightful change! Get ready for plenty of sunshine, with Wednesday’s lows dipping down into the mid-60s, and highs hovering near that 80-degree mark.

Cooling Off Towards the End of the Week

Thursday is shaping up to be even cooler! We’re looking at morning lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s — now that’s what we call a real breath of fresh air!

A Quick Tropical Update

Before we sign off, let’s touch on the tropics. There’s currently a medium chance, around 40%, that we might see a tropical depression form. Fortunately, we aren’t expecting any local impacts, but Florida might see some hefty rainfall, with predictions of 3 to 5+ inches over Central and Southern Florida next week. Additionally, keep your eyes on Hurricane Kirk, which will remain a major hurricane through the weekend before weakening next week. Also, Tropical Storm Leslie is forecasted to strengthen into a hurricane tonight but will stay well out over the open water.

So, there you have it, Savannah! Enjoy your weekend, stay safe, and let’s hope for some delightful fall weather to arrive soon!
