Week 4 High School Football Scores Highlight Thrilling Matchups

In a stunning week of high school football in South Carolina, the start of region play brought excitement and fierce competition across the state. Schools faced off in several thrilling matches, showcasing the talents of student-athletes as they push for victories.

AAA Region Contests

In Region 1 AAAAA, Greenville edged Woodmont with a close score of 35-31, while Greenwood secured a hard-fought victory over T.L. Hanna at 25-21. Hillcrest easily defeated Mauldin with a notable score of 51-6, and J.L. Mann showcased their strength against Easley, winning 35-6.

Region 2 AAAAA saw Byrnes crush Wade Hampton with a score of 52-0, establishing their dominance early in the season. Dorman also found success, beating Riverside 24-13, while Gaffney took down Boiling Springs 28-22 and Spartanburg overwhelmed Eastside 49-6.

AAAA Region Highlights

The AAAA Region 2 featured an impressive showing by Greer, who shut out Berea with a whopping 63-0 score. Pickens followed close behind, defeating Blue Ridge 35-26, while Seneca overpowered Travelers Rest 63-12. In Region 3, Richland Northeast bested Camden 26-15, and South Pointe maintained their strength by defeating A.C. Flora 56-14.

Airport managed a solid performance in Region 4, defeating Aiken with a score of 34-16. Other close matches include North Augusta edging Gilbert 37-14 and Brookland-Cayce narrowly defeating South Aiken 34-27.

Exciting Matchups in AA

The AA Region 7 games featured East Clarendon securing a 28-12 win over Lake City, while Kingstree exhibited a powerful attack, defeating Marion 52-16. Mullins also claimed victory against Atlantic Collegiate with a final score of 44-18.

Class A/SCISA Competitions

In Class A Region 5, Baptist Hill fought hard to defeat Bethune-Bowman 28-8, while Branchville triumphed over Scott’s Branch 41-12, showcasing their strength on the field. In Region 6, Hannah-Pamplico managed a 40-14 victory against Carvers Bay, and Lake View shut out Johnsonville with a score of 37-0.

In SCISA action, Augusta Christian dominated Laurence Manning, winning 44-29. Calhoun Academy also proved too strong, defeating Andrew Jackson Academy 44-6.

Notable Performances

This week highlighted standout individual performances across various games. In particular, the matchup between Blackville-Hilda and Denmark-Olar saw Blackville-Hilda take home the victory with a score of 20-12. The Hawks’ Holman rushed for an impressive 125 yards, contributing three touchdowns that played a crucial role in their win.

Wando’s Impressive Win

Another noteworthy match was Wando’s strong performance against West Ashley, where they won 21-7. Under first-year head coach Isaiah Perrin, Wando celebrated their third win of the season. Harris Stone threw two touchdown passes, helping establish Wando as a competitive team this year.

“We wanted to serve notice that this is not the old Wando,” remarked Coach Perrin. “Our kids are going to play hard.” As the team gets ready for region play on October 4, this victory serves as a strong foundation for their aspirations.
