HHI to Hold Neighborhood Gathering & Cookout for Jonesville Area Residents
JONESVILLE, S.C.: In an effort to bolster community spirit and collaboration, the Town of Hilton Head Island (HHI) has announced plans to host a community cookout and neighborhood gathering. Specifically targeted towards Jonesville and neighboring area residents, the gathering is part of the Town’s commitment to engage with the community, and improve local infrastructure and quality of life. The event will take place at the site of the old stable grounds located at 200 Jonesville Rd.
Neighborhood Gathering & Cookout
Scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5 from 5–7 p.m., the “Neighborhood Gathering & Cookout” aims to bring together local residents and town staff in a casual, friendly setting. It offers a unique opportunity for citizens to interact directly with representatives from different departments, such as planning, engineering, fire rescue, public safety, administration, and the Gullah Geechee Community Development Corporation. This interaction is vital in shaping the future of historic areas like Jonesville, enabling collaborative efforts that take into account the unique infrastructure needs of such locations.
A Platform for Discussions
Town staff members will be available to provide information and engage in conversations about a variety of ongoing projects and initiatives. They will discuss potential enhancements to roads, parks, open spaces, and pathways, as well as stormwater management strategies and driveway access rules. The HHI officials will share initial ideas on utilization of the former Driftwood Stables property and solicit feedback from residents.
Other areas for discussion include zoning, districts, and strategies for maintaining community character, the Home Safety Repair Program, and the Sewer Connection Program. There will also be opportunities to know more about the Historic Neighborhoods Permitting and Design Studio’s offerings, including assistance with addressing, property access, conceptual site design, and business licensing.
Inviting Feedback
This event is not merely informational but also intends to serve as a platform for residents to voice their concerns, share their ideas, and offer feedback. The HHI administration believes that such dialogue can help create better plans to enhance the neighborhood and manage the growth of the area.
A Community Feast
In adherence to the spirit of a community cookout, a spread of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and beverages are being planned for the residents. Beyond the discussions, this is yet another aspect of the gathering that promises to bring together Jonesville residents in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, strengthening the sense of community while fostering better communication with the Town.
