Flau’jae Johnson returned to Savannah over the weekend for her second annual Back to School Giveback Festival. Embodying the spirit of community and encouragement, Johnson handed out a variety of school essentials including backpacks, clothes, shoes, and headphones to students hailing from the Coastal Empire at the Enmarket Arena.
Apart from the distribution of school supplies, the Giveback Festival was also a hub of entertainment and gastronomy. Attendees were treated to soulful music, scrumptious food, spirited games, bounce houses, and face paintings. Adding more to the excitement, the crowd also won a series of prizes.

“I believe it’s crucial to give back to the kids,” expressed Johnson. “Presenting them with a positive reflection of the city as someone genuinely concerned about them carries immense importance. I always felt the need for it, and so, I decided that if I was ever bestowed with the opportunity of giving back to my city, I would want to make it count. Aiding as many people as I can is the aim. Observing the number of people we assisted today is heartwarming. An approximate of 1,000 kids walked away with backpacks loaded with school supplies, shoes, and uniforms. I feel fulfilled knowing I’ve done my job today. I’m so thankful.”
