Rotary Club of Savannah Appoints Its 110th President and Board of Directors for 2024 – 2025

The Rotary Club of Savannah has declared Captain Lakshman as its 110th president. Lakshman, a recognized maritime expert with a rich background in leadership and experience, brings valuable knowledge and a great passion for community service in his new role.
Transition of Leadership
The series of changes in leadership within the club is set to take place on June 24. Outgoing President Eddie DeLoach will turn over the gavel to Lakshman in a ceremony arranged at the DeSoto on Liberty Street at 12:30 p.m. The organization will also inaugurate the officers for 2024-2025, which includes Secretary/Treasurer-Elect Robert Grant, and Sergeant at Arms-Elect Anita Hagin. The Rotary Club of Savannah will further welcome the 2024-25 Board of Directors, consisting of Eddie Culver, Pete Hoffman, Bill Kelso, Roger Moss, David Paddison, Paul Pressly, David Rosenblum, Camille Russo, Philip Solomons, Cecilia Turner, Tim Walmsley, and Matt West.
Lakshman’s Journey
Captain Lakshman’s life displays a vibrant mix of maritime expertise, entrepreneurial achievement, community leadership, and strong family bonds. A 1982 graduate of the Indian Merchant Marine Academy, he spent 17 years sailing the high seas, particularly being the Chief Mate during the 1991 Perfect Storm on the M.V Eagle, a vessel etched in history through Sebastian Junger’s book.
After transferring to Savannah, Captain Lakshman switched to consultancy, establishing Viksniks Consultants for Risk Management catering to the maritime sector. Concurrently, he also launched Viksniks Business Solutions, specializing in medical record digitization for healthcare and legal practices. This venture reveals his adaptable business acumen.
Dedication to Community Service
Captain Lakshman’s commitment to community service is unquestionable. Currently serving as a Commissioner of the Savannah Pilotage Commission and a trustee on the Board of the Savannah Country Day School, his involvement as the new president of the Rotary Club of Savannah only emphasizes his dedication to social development.
Expressing his feelings on this new opportunity, Lakshman said, “I am deeply honored to serve as the president of the Rotary Club of Savannah. Importance of Family
Family plays an integral part in Captain Lakshman’s life. Celebrating 32 years of marriage to Kay, the couple has two successful sons. Vihan, pursuing a Ph.D. at MIT, embodies the family’s dedication to academic excellence. Simultaneously, Nivan is carving a path in the field of medicine at the Medical College of Georgia, reflecting the family’s dedication to healthcare contribution.
