EAT IT & LIKE IT: Heritage Fire National Tour Returns to Savannah

Savannah’s thriving food scene is set to sizzle with the return of the Heritage Fire National Tour, scheduled for June 2, 2024. This highly-anticipated culinary event has been applauded as a gastronomic extravaganza that pairs local chefs and heritage breed livestock, orchestrated around the sizzling allure of live fire cooking.

About the Heritage Fire National Tour

The Heritage Fire Tour positions itself as a premier, live-fire, nationwide food and wine tour celebrating heritage breed livestock and heirloom produce — staples that add a unique twist to the culinary creations of participating chefs.

Launched in Napa back in 2010, Heritage Fire quickly gathered a strong following, prompting organizers to take the event on the road. Today, the tour features over a dozen stops in cities across the nation such as Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, Nashville, and Atlanta, with Savannah being one of those privileged stops.

Last Year’s Tour

Looking back at its first stop in Savannah in 2023, the Heritage Fire Tour drew hundreds of enthusiastic guests to the Pit and Paddock field adjacent to the Westin Savannah Harbor. It proved to be an exhilarating one-day event that participants found exceptional, in both its organization and culinary offerings.

Competition and Culinary Creativity

One of the many exciting aspects of Heritage Fire Tour is that it operates as a competition. Attendees are given the opportunity to vote for their favorite dish. In 2023, the “Heritage Hero” titleholder was Chef Daniel Herget of Emporium Kitchen at The Perry Lane Hotel. This year, a new lineup of promising chefs including Husk’s Jacob Hammer, Repeal 33’s Gregg Garrison, and Saint Bibiana’s Derek Simcik are ready to unleash their creativity over live fire cooking.

Tickets and Event Details

The tickets for this food and wine gala are priced at $125, including unlimited food and drink for the duration of the four-hour event. VIP Tickets offer early access to the festival grounds and a welcome cocktail. With this ticket, patrons will enjoy an array of exquisite dishes and beverages by the tranquil Savannah River, promising both good value and a delightful culinary experience.

A Step in the Right Direction

While it is not officially a Savannah Food and Wine Festival, the return of the Heritage Fire National Tour is nonetheless a welcome development in the local culinary scene. Support for such events showcases the region’s outstanding food culture, highlighting Savannah’s commitment to exceptional, locally-sourced gastronomy.
