2024 Taste of Beaufort Festival Kicks Off Friday
BEAUFORT, S.C. – The 25th Taste of Beaufort Festival kicked off on Friday at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. Local crews spent the morning adding the finishing touches to the main stage, restaurants and food vendors prepped their wares, and craft vendors set up their stalls, ready to serve the festival-goers.
Music and Food from the Palmetto State
This year, the festival proudly presents all music artists that hail from the state itself, adding a local touch to the event. On the gastronomical front, the food offering is from local favorites, such as Belly Full by Tyger and Sea Eagle Market.
While the entrance to the festival is completely free, visitors will need to buy food and drink tickets, costing one dollar each. So, festival-goers will not only enjoy musical performances but also taste some delightful Lowcountry food.
A Genuine Family Event
Ashley Brandon, City of Beaufort Downtown Manager and Events Coordinator, shared her thoughts about what makes the festival special. According to her, the festival is more of a community gathering and is like a big family reunion right in the heart of the town.
“It’s seeing our community interact with friends and family. Memories are created here, like when I get my grandma her favorite fried shrimp from Belly Full by Tyger. No matter the weather, the turnout is always impressive. It’s these moments that endear the festival to the hearts of the locals and visitors alike,” says Brandon.
Maureen Robinson, the owner of Island Fudge Shoppe, echoed these sentiments. “We’ve been part of this for a long time, and we’ve seen it all. Whether it’s rain or shine, people come out in droves, and it’s always a great turnout.”
A True Reflection of Beaufort
The festival pays homage to the spirit and essence of the peaceful town of Beaufort. “Our festival mirrors the pace of Beaufort. It’s an easy day, where the community comes together to eat, and have a good time, listen to some music, and, most importantly, slows down and relaxes for the weekend,” added Brandon.
