UWCE Collaborates with Georgia Legal Services Program to Offer Free Legal Assistance in Bryan County
Partnership Intends to Provide Means for Legal Advice and Access to Justice to Low-Income Residents of Bryan County
Georgia – In an unprecedented move targeted towards increasing accessibility to legal services among the marginalized communities in Bryan County, United Way of the Coastal Empire (UWCE) has joined forces with the Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP).
Through this joint initiative, a no-charge clinic is set to be held on May 2, 2024, to furnish Bryan County residents with counsel on multiple civil legal matters. The event, dubbed as “Ask A Lawyer Day,” will transpire from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bryan County United Way/Family Connections Building in Richmond Hill.
Contributing to the Fight for Equal Access to Justice
The collaboration comes at a crucial time when statistics reveal that a significant portion of low-income households is facing numerous legal issues on a daily basis without the necessary means to combat such situations legally. This partnership will bring to the table lawyers from the GLSP’s Savannah Regional Office, who will dispense advice on varied topics.
From domestic violence, housing and landlord-tenant issues, food stamps and Medicaid inquiries, to deliberations on matters concerning unemployment, wills, estates, custody, and guardianship, the scope of this free service encompasses a wide range of legal questions.
