Experience the Magic of the Holidays at The Paris Market & Brocante

If you find yourself strolling through Savannah this holiday season, be sure to stop by The Paris Market & Brocante on Broughton Street. This boutique isn’t just a store; it’s an enchanting journey through art, antiques, and holiday cheer that will transport you around the globe without ever leaving the city!

A Holiday Wonderland

Co-founder and owner Paula Danyluk has been creating this magical experience for 20 years, and each year she manages to wow her visitors with stunning displays that are anything but ordinary. Get ready to ditch the usual red and green and embrace a world of color and creativity! This year, the theme is inspired by cultures from around the world!

Global Inspiration in Every Corner

As you walk through the store, you’ll be greeted by marvelous holiday trees decorated to represent countries such as Japan, Scotland, Italy, France, and Peru. Each tree is uniquely crafted with a palette and decorations that tell the story of the country it represents.

For example, one area features a fabulous 12-foot Christmas tree spiraled with a pink ombré dragon that pays homage to Japan. Danyluk shared her vision for this year: “I want each tree to bring an element of surprise.”

Interactive Learning for Kids

Not only will you enjoy the sights, but Danyluk is making it a point to involve kids too! In each themed area, there’s going to be someone on hand to share fun facts and stories about that country. “Do you have any relatives from these places? Let’s talk about your heritage!” Danyluk encourages families to explore together, reminding us all that we share a connected history as immigrants.

The Art of Vintage Collecting

Danyluk, known affectionately as a “magpie,” delights in the thrill of the hunt for vintage treasures. She draws inspiration from her travels, scouring less-trodden paths to find unique items that carry stories of their own. “I love to dig around in basements and explore auctions. That’s where the real gems are!” she beams.

For this holiday season, she brought back special finds like vintage kilts from Scotland and lovely kimonos from France, all of which contribute to the store’s delightful ambiance.

Layering the Perfect Tablescape

Setting a beautiful table is an art form, and Danyluk is here to share her secrets. She believes that “mixing and matching” is the key. Forget about boring uniformity; embrace maximalism instead! She loves to combine vintage silverware from different eras and fabrics, saying, “You can’t just do one thing and then stop. Layering creates visual interest!”

Another tip? Ditch the paper napkins and opt for stunning linen instead. Danyluk prefers elegantly wrapped napkins tied with jasmine vines for a natural touch. “It also becomes a conversation starter!” she explains.

Making it Your Own

Feeling intimidated to try new decorating styles? Don’t sweat it! Danyluk reassures us that there are no hard and fast rules. “Start experimenting! Put on some music, and let loose. It’s all about having fun and seeing what works for you,” she shares, encouraging everyone to step out of their comfort zone.

So whether you visit The Paris Market & Brocante for holiday shopping or just to soak in the festive atmosphere, you’re sure to leave inspired. Get ready to embrace the holiday spirit globally and locally—after all, it’s all about the joy of making connections, one stunning display at a time!
